The last part of testing electronics is the Seeed Studio 2.8″ TFT LCD shield, used for displaying pictures. The pictures must be 320×240, and 24-bit depth, and bitmap format.

Jewelry Box: SSD1306 128×64 OLED Message Board

There are a few different SSD1306 OLED displays, but mine has a yellow top, and blue bottom. Yellow is (0,0) by (127,15), while blue is (16,0) by (127,63). Knowing the dimensions of the display allows me to lay out the message and text.

Jewelry Box: Parts

The parts I chose for this project were from other projects, in which they made a day counter of the current time with their significant other. I was going to do the same, but wanted to take it a step further: provide a message to the number of days. At first, it was only going to be “Annoying you for XXXX days”, where XXXX is the number of days since we’ve been dating, for a simple gift. Then again, why do you want to read the same thing all the time, with a new number of days. I’ll go into more details for the message when I get into the coding part, but for now, on to the parts list.

Project: Jewelry Box

In the simplest sense, I want to build my girlfriend a jewelry box. In the not-so-simple sense, it’s going to be a jewelry box, with an LCD monitor displaying pictures of us together, and an OLED display with a random message and counter of our time together.
