Jewelry Box: Components Complete

There are two factors to making this sketch complete:

  • if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, and
  • don’t reinvent the wheel, if all you need is new tread

The example sketches provide much of what I want to do, and they work in the way I need for my jewelry box; refer back to the two points! With the exception of a few changes to function calls, and minor code addition, the majority of the sketch is a copy/paste from example sketches.

Jewelry Box: Parts

The parts I chose for this project were from other projects, in which they made a day counter of the current time with their significant other. I was going to do the same, but wanted to take it a step further: provide a message to the number of days. At first, it was only going to be “Annoying you for XXXX days”, where XXXX is the number of days since we’ve been dating, for a simple gift. Then again, why do you want to read the same thing all the time, with a new number of days. I’ll go into more details for the message when I get into the coding part, but for now, on to the parts list.

Project: Jewelry Box

In the simplest sense, I want to build my girlfriend a jewelry box. In the not-so-simple sense, it’s going to be a jewelry box, with an LCD monitor displaying pictures of us together, and an OLED display with a random message and counter of our time together.
